2013 Feb 19	Everything About Android Location Based Programming that You Were Afraid to Ask Android more... This month we have a presentation by Bibhas Bhattacharya, Founder of Vikingo Games, a Miami based mobile gaming startup. He has over 15 years of IT experience specializing in Enterprise Java, Mobile and Web Service.This talk will explore some of the practical problems most programmers will face when developing a location-based application. Topics will include: - Best strategies for obtaining user's location. - Introduction to spatial search and the theory behind it. - How to do spatial search using a SQL database? - How to do spatial search using MongoDB? - How to test applications using mock location providers? - A few advanced topics such as proximity sensor and compass reading. 2010 Nov 17	Meetup #4 - AppEngine the mighty. Google App Engine more... We just received confirmation that our next Meetup is going to be on November 17th at our designated spot: Citrix Ft Lauderdale. In this occasion George Holler is going to be presenting his experience developing with AppEngine. George is a Lead Java Web Developer at Citrix. He and his team have been working with the GWT/AppEngine combo for the last year, and he is going to be giving an introduction, as well as a brief demo. AppEngine: Launched in 2008, Google App Engine provides Tier 1 Internet access to enterprises and developers. It requires applications to be written in Python or Java and also use Google's BigTable non-relational database and GQL query language, which is similar to SQL. Existing applications typically have to be modified to use App Engine. Many thanks to Luis (SFGTUG Co-Organizer) who fully coordinated this event and the Citrix folks, who are letting us borrow their conference room for the talks. Very much appreciated, guys!

Talk: Introduction to GWT By: Nelson Melo & Luis Atencio Depending on the crowd experience with GWT, we'll be covering some of the basics of the technology. There will be a demo of what GWT can do and there will be a space reserved at the end for Q&A and debate. Driving Directions: From I-95 I-95 North or South to Cypress Creek Road, exit 33 heading West. Go through the lights at Andrews Avenue and over the railroad tracks. Lauderdale, FL 33309 From the Florida Turnpike Florida Turnpike to Coconut Creek Parkway/M.L King Drive, exit 67.
